Review in Change Stack →

Walkthrough

Seven maintained-app records update release versions, installer URLs, checksums, or patched-version thresholds. Canva’s uninstall script adds cleanup of its HTTP storage directory. Kaleidoscope’s uninstall behavior now finds and quits running applications whose bundle IDs match app.kaleidoscope.v*.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 9faff

Kaleidoscope’s uninstall can be delayed by up to 10 seconds and report a failed quit when an unrelated process command line contains its bundle ID, even after the app exits. This bounded issue does not prevent the remaining cleanup, so the change is mergeable.

- Line 21: Update the running-state check in `quit_application` to use the
bundle-ID-aware AppleScript query instead of `pgrep -f`, and confirm the
application is no longer running before reporting success. Preserve the existing
timeout and retry behavior.

Use the bundle-aware running-state check.

pgrep -f "$bundle_id" scans complete command lines, so an unrelated process can keep the check positive after the application quits. The script can then wait 10 seconds and report that the application did not quit.

quit_matching_applications already checks each matching application ID separately. The AppleScript query does not omit another matching Kaleidoscope application.

Suggested fix
- if ! pgrep -f "$bundle_id" >/dev/null 2>&1; then
+      if still_running=$(osascript -e "application id \"$bundle_id\" is running" 2>/dev/null) && [[ "$still_running" == "false" ]]; then

Review comment at @ee/maintained-apps/outputs/kaleidoscope/darwin.json at line
21:
Update the running-state check in `quit_application` to use the bundle-ID-aware
AppleScript query instead of `pgrep -f`, and confirm the application is no
longer running before reporting success. Preserve the existing timeout and retry
behavior.
