Software Engineer Β· Backend & Mobile Building with Kotlin, Django and Python from Nairobi, Kenya
I build backends and mobile apps, write about what I learn, and write poetry on the side.
Right now I'm working on Korva Ventures, and I'm picking up Kubernetes to get better at shipping and running what I build. I'm happy to collaborate on backend and mobile projects, especially open source.

β Featured: LiveEdit
A real-time AI video editor powered by the Gemini API. Upload a video, chat with the AI about it, and get back an analysis with a suggested edit plan (cuts, key events, summary). It can also generate video with AI, and has a live mode for real-time interaction.
How it's built
- Frontend: React 19, TypeScript and Vite, deployed on Vercel
- Backend: Flask API served with Gunicorn
- Background jobs: Celery workers consuming a Redis (Upstash) queue, so long-running video work doesn't block the API
- Processing: FFmpeg for video work, Google Gemini for analysis and generation
- Data: Neon PostgreSQL

I write articles on Medium about Kotlin, Django, Python and things I'm learning along the way.

- What a Feedback Analysis Tool for Insurers Taught Me About Being an Engineer β A sneak pick at my attachment project, with an eastter egg at the end.
I also share coding content on YouTube.
Fun fact: I write poetry. Building software and writing verse are different crafts, but both reward clear thinking and cutting what doesn't belong.
